Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.11%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 1.11%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Coca-Cola Femsa SAB de CV (BMV: KOFUBL ), which rose 5.28% or 9.09 points to trade at 181.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: MEGACPO ) added 4.51% or 1.90 points to end at 44.00 and Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: AC ) was up 1.60% or 3.34 points to 212.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ), which fell 7.59% or 1.31 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV: TLEVISACPO ) declined 4.84% or 0.40 points to end at 7.87 and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (BMV: GAPB ) was down 4.57% or 19.02 points to 397.54.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 160 to 86 and 16 ended unchanged.

Shares in Coca-Cola Femsa SAB de CV (BMV: KOFUBL ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 5.28% or 9.09 to 181.19.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.20% or 5.84 to $2,950.26 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.09% or 2.24 to hit $70.24 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.92% or 2.23 to trade at $74.25 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.66% to 20.43, while EUR/MXN rose 0.23% to 21.37.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 106.55.
