Italy stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com Italy 40 up 0.56%

Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials , Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 0.56% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (BIT: BMPS ), which rose 5.30% or 0.35 points to trade at 6.96 at the close. Meanwhile, UniCredit SpA (BIT: CRDI ) added 2.84% or 1.36 points to end at 49.33 and Banca Popolare di Sondrio ScpA (BIT: BPSI ) was up 2.71% or 0.28 points to 10.63 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Prysmian SpA (BIT: PRY ), which fell 3.11% or 2.04 points to trade at 63.56 at the close. Moncler SpA (BIT: MONC ) declined 2.63% or 1.74 points to end at 64.50 and Amplifon (BIT: AMPF ) was down 2.46% or 0.62 points to 24.62.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 329 to 216 and 42 ended unchanged.

Shares in UniCredit SpA (BIT: CRDI ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.84% or 1.36 to 49.33. Shares in Banca Popolare di Sondrio ScpA (BIT: BPSI ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.71% or 0.28 to 10.63.

Crude oil for April delivery was down 2.56% or 1.81 to $68.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.53% or 1.88 to hit $72.43 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.91% or 56.50 to trade at $2,906.70 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 106.42.
