Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.24%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction , Travel and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.24%.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Avax SA (AT: AVAr ), which rose 4.86% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ) added 4.55% or 0.56 points to end at 12.88 and Coca Cola HBC AG (AT: EEEr ) was up 2.58% or 1.04 points to 41.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Public Power (AT: DEHr ), which fell 2.07% or 0.27 points to trade at 12.78 at the close. Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (AT: OTEr ) declined 1.76% or 0.26 points to end at 14.50 and Ekter (AT: EKTr ) was down 1.67% or 0.04 points to 2.06.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 66 to 56 and 19 ended unchanged.

Shares in Avax SA (AT: AVAr ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.86% or 0.11 to 2.38. Shares in Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.55% or 0.56 to 12.88. Shares in Coca Cola HBC AG (AT: EEEr ) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.58% or 1.04 to 41.40.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.27% or 7.79 to $2,926.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $68.74 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.30 to trade at $72.20 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 106.31.
