U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.64%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals , Industrial Metals & Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.64%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LON: VOD ), which rose 1.21% or 0.90 points to trade at 75.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Londonmetric Property Plc (LON: LMPL ) added 0.84% or 1.50 points to end at 181.10 and BT Group PLC (LON: BT ) was up 0.71% or 1.15 points to 164.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON: JD ), which fell 5.09% or 4.06 points to trade at 75.76 at the close. Croda International PLC (LON: CRDA ) declined 4.87% or 148.00 points to end at 2,889.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON: ANTO ) was down 4.82% or 92.00 points to 1,817.50.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1156 to 628 and 593 ended unchanged.

Shares in Croda International PLC (LON: CRDA ) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.87% or 148.00 to 2,889.00. Shares in BT Group PLC (LON: BT ) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.71% or 1.15 to 164.35.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.71% or 21.49 to $3,022.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.32% or 0.22 to hit $68.29 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $72.14 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.42% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 103.83.
