Canada stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite unchanged

Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as in the sectors led shares .

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite unchanged 0.00%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Tilray Inc (TSX: TLRY ), which rose 7.45% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Pet Valu Holdings Ltd (TSX: PET ) added 5.92% or 1.51 points to end at 27.02 and G Mining Ventures Corp (TSX: GMIN ) was up 5.71% or 0.98 points to 18.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Magna International Inc (TSX: MG ), which fell 6.92% or 3.72 points to trade at 50.05 at the close. BRP Inc (TSX: DOO ) declined 6.84% or 3.73 points to end at 50.82 and Bombardier Inc (TSX: BBDb ) was down 5.90% or 5.08 points to 81.01.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 441 to 429 and 111 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.71% to 13.97.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.50% or 45.91 to $3,098.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.30% or 0.21 to hit $69.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.23 to trade at $73.29 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 0.70, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.67% to 0.65.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 103.94.
