Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.12%

Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the A-REITs , Telecoms Services and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.12%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Megaport Ltd (ASX: MP1 ), which rose 4.49% or 0.44 points to trade at 10.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Goodman Group (ASX: GMG ) added 3.15% or 0.92 points to end at 30.11 and Charter Hall Group (ASX: CHC ) was up 2.98% or 0.50 points to 17.28 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX: TWE ), which fell 4.89% or 0.47 points to trade at 9.15 at the close. Zip Co Ltd (ASX: ZIP ) declined 4.07% or 0.07 points to end at 1.59 and St Barbara Ltd (ASX: SBM ) was down 4.00% or 0.01 points to 0.24.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 611 to 432 and 384 ended unchanged.

Shares in Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX: TWE ) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.89% or 0.47 to 9.15.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 0.20% to 13.22.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.03% or 0.88 to $3,145.12 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $71.19 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.05 to trade at $74.44 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.85% to 0.63, while AUD/JPY rose 0.90% to 94.37.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 103.95.
