Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.94%
Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the IT , Energy and Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX: RMS ), which rose 5.22% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Dyno Nobel Ltd (ASX: DNL ) added 4.08% or 0.10 points to end at 2.55 and Westgold Resources Ltd (ASX: WGX ) was up 3.23% or 0.09 points to 2.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ansell Ltd (ASX: ANN ), which fell 14.34% or 4.91 points to trade at 29.34 at the close. Netwealth Group Ltd (ASX: NWL ) declined 8.65% or 2.27 points to end at 23.98 and Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX: MIN ) was down 9.47% or 2.20 points to 21.03.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 725 to 348 and 415 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dyno Nobel Ltd (ASX: DNL ) rose to 52-week lows; up 4.08% or 0.10 to 2.55. Shares in Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX: MIN ) fell to 3-years lows; falling 9.47% or 2.20 to 21.03.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 9.34% to 14.46.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.48% or 15.23 to $3,150.97 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.58% or 1.85 to hit $69.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.45% or 1.84 to trade at $73.11 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 0.63, while AUD/JPY fell 1.68% to 92.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.96% at 102.50.
