Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services , Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.56%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.67%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.87%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS ), which rose 2.67% or 14.65 points to trade at 563.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN ) added 2.00% or 3.84 points to end at 196.01 and American Express Company (NYSE: AXP ) was up 1.73% or 4.67 points to 275.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE: VZ ), which fell 1.41% or 0.64 points to trade at 44.74 at the close. Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX ) declined 1.21% or 2.04 points to end at 166.47 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE: KO ) was down 0.77% or 0.55 points to 71.32.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Amentum Holdings LLC (NYSE: AMTM ) which rose 10.30% to 19.71, Leidos Holdings Inc (NYSE: LDOS ) which was up 5.98% to settle at 143.03 and Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ: CZR ) which gained 5.80% to close at 26.27.

The worst performers were Hershey Co (NYSE: HSY ) which was down 3.34% to 163.95 in late trade, Altria Group (NYSE: MO ) which lost 2.84% to settle at 57.12 and MarketAxess Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: MKTX ) which was down 2.37% to 210.81 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were American Rebel Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: AREB ) which rose 341.90% to 6.28, Innovation Beverage Group Ltd (NASDAQ: IBG ) which was up 152.46% to settle at 1.25 and Sportsmans (NASDAQ: SPWH ) which gained 97.93% to close at 1.91.

The worst performers were Jayud Global Logistics Ltd (NASDAQ: JYD ) which was down 95.67% to 0.35 in late trade, ReShape Lifesciences Inc (NASDAQ: RSLS ) which lost 71.69% to settle at 0.45 and BingEx Inc (NASDAQ: FLX ) which was down 56.90% to 2.25 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1925 to 829 and 99 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2262 rose and 1015 declined, while 138 ended unchanged.

Shares in Jayud Global Logistics Ltd (NASDAQ: JYD ) fell to all time lows; losing 95.67% or 7.62 to 0.35. Shares in BingEx Inc (NASDAQ: FLX ) fell to all time lows; losing 56.90% or 2.97 to 2.25.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.19% to 21.51.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.45% or 45.75 to $3,191.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.27% or 0.19 to hit $71.39 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $74.51 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.08, while USD/JPY fell 0.21% to 149.69.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 103.51.
