Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 0.13%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities , Consumer Services and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.13% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI: EDPR ), which rose 5.10% or 0.40 points to trade at 8.15 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI: EDP ) added 5.09% or 0.16 points to end at 3.30 and Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI: RENE ) was up 3.59% or 0.10 points to 2.88 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Galp Energia Nom (ELI: GALP ), which fell 5.35% or 0.86 points to trade at 15.20 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) declined 4.42% or 0.03 points to end at 0.54 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ) was down 2.06% or 0.16 points to 7.59.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 18 to 9 and 2 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI: RENE ) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.59% or 0.10 to 2.88.

Brent oil for June delivery was down 6.58% or 4.93 to $70.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 7.01% or 5.03 to hit $66.68 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.22% or 38.61 to trade at $3,127.59 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 1.74% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP rose 1.02% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.79% at 101.64.
