Belgium stocks lower at close of trade; BEL 20 down 1.14%

Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology , Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.14% to hit a new 1-month low.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (EBR: ELI ), which rose 7.58% or 6.10 points to trade at 86.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Cofinimmo SA (EBR: COFB ) added 4.64% or 2.75 points to end at 62.05 and Aedifica (EBR: AOO ) was up 2.45% or 1.50 points to 62.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Umicore SA (EBR: UMI ), which fell 7.48% or 0.69 points to trade at 8.54 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR: MLXS ) declined 5.96% or 3.07 points to end at 48.48 and KBC Groep NV (EBR: KBC ) was down 4.49% or 3.80 points to 80.82.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 60 to 32 and 12 ended unchanged.

Shares in Melexis NV (EBR: MLXS ) fell to 3-years lows; falling 5.96% or 3.07 to 48.48.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.00% or 31.51 to $3,134.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 6.99% or 5.01 to hit $66.70 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 6.58% or 4.93 to trade at $70.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.79% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP rose 1.03% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.82% at 101.61.
