Poland stocks lower at close of trade; WIG30 down 3.76%

Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 3.76%.

The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA: CPS ), which rose 2.24% or 0.35 points to trade at 15.76 at the close. Meanwhile, Asseco Poland SA (WA: ACPP ) added 1.20% or 1.90 points to end at 160.20 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA: TPE ) was up 0.39% or 0.02 points to 5.09 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were LPP SA (WA: LPPP ), which fell 9.65% or 1,740.00 points to trade at 16,295.00 at the close. 11BIT (WA: 11B ) declined 9.46% or 19.30 points to end at 184.70 and Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA: JSW ) was down 6.23% or 1.49 points to 22.41.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 431 to 110 and 84 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA: TPE ) rose to 5-year highs; up 0.39% or 0.02 to 5.09.

Crude oil for May delivery was down 7.42% or 5.32 to $66.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 6.83% or 5.12 to hit $69.83 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.09% or 34.46 to trade at $3,131.74 a troy ounce.

EUR/PLN was up 1.48% to 4.23, while USD/PLN fell 0.25% to 3.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.73% at 101.70.
