Investing.com-- U.S. President Donald Trump and Paramount Global (NASDAQ: PARAA ) are set to begin mediation in his $20 billion lawsuit against CBS News over a 60 Minutes interview of former Vice President Kamala Harris, the New York Times (NYSE: NYT ) reported on Monday.

The two sides recently picked a mediator, the NYT report said, citing people with knowledge of the proceedings. A mediator will help the two sides reach a settlement.

Trump sued CBS News for $20 billion on claims that the channel’s 60 Minutes show deceptively edited an October interview with Harris, who was his opponent in the 2024 presidential election.

He claimed that the edits of the interview were misleading and harmed his campaign.

CBS News has maintained that its edits were protected by the First Amendment.

Reports of a potential settlement in the lawsuit began earlier this year, especially amid speculation that CBS parent Paramount will seek to close the lawsuit quickly, as it prepares to merge with Skydance Entertainment.
