Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance , Consumer & Cyclical and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 4.26% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index declined 2.94%, and the TecDAX index lost 3.22%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Qiagen NV (ETR: QIA ), which rose 2.31% or 0.82 points to trade at 36.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR: CBKG ) added 0.83% or 0.17 points to end at 20.58 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR: MBGn ) was down 0.04% or 0.02 points to 49.04 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Hannover Rueck SE (ETR: HNRGn ), which fell 7.53% or 20.00 points to trade at 245.60 at the close. Munich Reinsurance (ETR: MUVGn ) declined 7.01% or 39.20 points to end at 519.80 and Airbus Group SE (ETR: AIRG ) was down 6.97% or 10.24 points to 136.70.

The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR: AFXG ) which rose 3.20% to 50.30, Aixtron SE (ETR: AIXGn ) which was up 3.19% to settle at 9.50 and HelloFresh SE (ETR: HFGG ) which gained 2.42% to close at 7.62.

The worst performers were DWS Group GmbH & Co KgaA (ETR: DWSG ) which was down 7.61% to 38.34 in late trade, Puma SE (ETR: PUMG ) which lost 7.29% to settle at 18.70 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR: TEGG ) which was down 6.96% to 12.57 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR: AFXG ) which rose 3.20% to 50.30, Aixtron SE (ETR: AIXGn ) which was up 3.19% to settle at 9.50 and Qiagen NV (ETR: QIA ) which gained 2.31% to close at 36.15.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR: SATG_p ) which was down 6.44% to 175.85 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (ETR: TMV ) which lost 5.86% to settle at 10.92 and Kontron AG (ETR: KTN ) which was down 5.31% to 19.81 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 564 to 102 and 15 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR: MBGn ) fell to 3-years lows; down 0.04% or 0.02 to 49.04. Shares in Puma SE (ETR: PUMG ) fell to 5-year lows; losing 7.29% or 1.47 to 18.70. Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR: SATG_p ) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.44% or 12.10 to 175.85.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.04% to 21.14.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.28% or 38.81 to $2,996.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.13% or 1.32 to hit $60.67 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.06% or 1.35 to trade at $64.23 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 0.97% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 103.28.
