Daimler Truck Q1 sales 8% lower on weaker demand in North America
(Reuters) - Daimler Truck on Tuesday reported an 8% drop in first-quarter sales citing declining demand in North America and Mercedes-Benz (OTC: MBGAF ) Trucks units.
The company - one of the world’s biggest truckmakers - said it sold 99,812 vehicles in the first quarter, compared with 108,911 a year earlier.
Sales of the Trucks North America and Mercedes-Benz Trucks segments fell 16% and 18%, respectively, while Trucks Asia saw an increase of 16%.
Peer Traton said on Monday it expected the North American truck market to shrink by close to 10% even before accounting for the impact from U.S. tariffs or a possible recession.
