Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining , Industrial Metals & Mining and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.55%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON: FRES ), which rose 7.37% or 68.00 points to trade at 991.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tesco PLC (LON: TSCO ) added 4.16% or 13.10 points to end at 327.70 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON: CTEC ) was up 3.95% or 9.40 points to 247.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON: SWR ), which fell 4.41% or 138.00 points to trade at 2,993.00 at the close. BP PLC (LON: BP ) declined 2.90% or 9.90 points to end at 331.70 and Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON: PSHP ) was down 2.06% or 70.00 points to 3,332.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 890 to 859 and 614 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresnillo PLC (LON: FRES ) rose to 3-years highs; up 7.37% or 68.00 to 991.00. Shares in BP PLC (LON: BP ) fell to 3-years lows; losing 2.90% or 9.90 to 331.70.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.64% or 83.79 to $3,261.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.07% or 0.64 to hit $60.71 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.61 to trade at $63.94 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.70% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.48% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.75% at 99.86.
