Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.48%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.48%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were America Movil SAB de CV M (BMV: AMXB ), which rose 2.47% or 0.37 points to trade at 15.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV: GFNORTEO ) added 2.23% or 3.24 points to end at 148.22 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV: FEMSAUBD ) was up 1.89% or 3.80 points to 205.18 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were GCC SAB de CV (BMV: GCC ), which fell 5.36% or 9.41 points to trade at 166.19 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (BMV: ASURB ) declined 2.31% or 13.18 points to end at 558.04 and Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV: LABB ) was down 1.83% or 0.42 points to 22.49.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 128 to 93 and 20 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.64% or 20.70 to $3,247.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $61.55 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $64.86 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.04% to 20.09, while EUR/MXN unchanged 0.01% to 22.67.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 99.90.
