Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 0.54%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining , Telecoms and Power sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 0.54%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were NOVATEK PJSC (MCX: NVTK ), which rose 3.91% or 43.60 points to trade at 1,159.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Transneft PJSC Pref (MCX: TRNF_p ) added 2.49% or 31.00 points to end at 1,268.00 and Bank VTB PJSC (MCX: VTBR ) was up 2.12% or 1.60 points to 77.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MMC NORILSK NICKEL PJSC (MCX: GMKN ), which fell 2.01% or 2.30 points to trade at 112.20 at the close. VK Company Ltd (MCX: VKCO ) declined 1.40% or 3.50 points to end at 246.60 and AFK Sistema PJSC (MCX: AFKS ) was down 1.30% or 0.19 points to 14.73.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 129 to 110 and 16 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 0.72% to 58.29.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.64% or 20.70 to $3,247.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $61.55 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $64.85 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 1.60% to 83.55, while EUR/RUB fell 0.22% to 93.14.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 99.90.
