Canada stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.84%
Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare , IT and REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX: BHC ), which rose 5.16% or 0.31 points to trade at 6.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Sandstorm Gold Ltd . (TSX: SSL ) added 4.54% or 0.51 points to end at 11.74 and Enerflex Ltd . (TSX: EFX ) was up 4.30% or 0.39 points to 9.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BRP Inc (TSX: DOO ), which fell 6.16% or 3.13 points to trade at 47.72 at the close. Pet Valu Holdings Ltd (TSX: PET ) declined 3.03% or 0.81 points to end at 25.89 and Ero Copper Corp (TSX: ERO ) was down 2.92% or 0.44 points to 14.65.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 645 to 281 and 71 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sandstorm Gold Ltd. (TSX: SSL ) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.54% or 0.51 to 11.74.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 9.39% to 27.20.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.60% or 19.40 to $3,245.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $61.49 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $64.83 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.57% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.07% to 0.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 99.86.
