India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.47%
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas , Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.47%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE: INBK ), which rose 6.67% or 49.10 points to trade at 785.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Axis Bank Ltd (NSE: AXBK ) added 4.33% or 48.20 points to end at 1,161.00 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NSE: ONGC ) was up 3.60% or 8.37 points to 241.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NSE: MRTI ), which fell 1.60% or 190.00 points to trade at 11,665.00 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE: HALC ) declined 1.29% or 7.95 points to end at 609.65 and Tata Motors Ltd (NSE: TAMO ) was down 0.97% or 6.05 points to 616.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: INBK ) which rose 6.78% to 785.75, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO: AXBK ) which was up 3.95% to settle at 1,158.05 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO: APSE ) which gained 1.98% to close at 1,234.80.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO: MRTI ) which was down 1.51% to 11,673.70 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO: INFY ) which lost 1.14% to settle at 1,411.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO: TAMO ) which was down 0.91% to 616.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1665 to 720 and 33 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2537 rose and 1263 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.
The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.95% to 15.81.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.42% or 78.34 to $3,318.74 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.86% or 0.53 to hit $61.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.53 to trade at $65.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 85.64, while EUR/INR rose 0.63% to 97.41.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 99.30.
