Russia stocks higher at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index up 2.02%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms , Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index rose 2.02%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Bank VTB PJSC (MCX: VTBR ), which rose 3.48% or 2.68 points to trade at 79.78 at the close. Meanwhile, Polyus PJSC (MCX: PLZL ) added 2.72% or 51.60 points to end at 1,949.60 and NOVATEK PJSC (MCX: NVTK ) was up 2.69% or 31.20 points to 1,190.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ROSSETI PJSC (MCX: FEES ), which unchanged 0.29% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.07 at the close. Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX: CBOM ) declined 0.23% or 0.02 points to end at 7.70 and OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX: RUAL ) was down 0.18% or 0.06 points to 33.03.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 197 to 44 and 14 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 2.01% to 56.94.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.62% or 117.20 to $3,357.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.07% or 1.27 to hit $62.60 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.07 to trade at $65.98 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.01% to 82.99, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 94.59.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.92% at 99.04.
