Canada stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.36%
Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Energy , Telecoms and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX: BHC ), which rose 13.30% or 0.83 points to trade at 7.07 at the close. Meanwhile, Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: EFR ) added 10.70% or 0.66 points to end at 6.83 and Athabasca Oil Corp (TSX: ATH ) was up 5.06% or 0.24 points to 4.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tilray Inc (TSX: TLRY ), which fell 6.06% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.62 at the close. Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX: EDR ) declined 4.73% or 0.26 points to end at 5.24 and Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX: AYA ) was down 3.80% or 0.44 points to 11.15.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 463 to 456 and 73 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tilray Inc (TSX: TLRY ) fell to all time lows; down 6.06% or 0.04 to 0.62.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.42% to 26.56.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.22% or 7.46 to $3,338.94 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.95% or 1.84 to hit $64.31 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.63% or 1.73 to trade at $67.58 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.35% to 0.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 99.15.
